When it comes to Real Estate, local is the key. Why spend all your time writing blog articles that garner national attention when your real prospects are in your back-yard? So, let’s look at tips that will help you rank well in local search results on the global search databases, such as Google, Yahoo! and MSN.
Great local online marketing resources: Local Launch Reach Local 1. List yourself in local directories: Listing in local directories and advertising on local portals can be a cheap marketing spend. Try directories like Verizon, Superpages and possibly business directories that charge you by the click. (If your site does not outrank them then it is worthless being forced to pay a recurring click cost anytime someone is already searching for your brand name.) Also be sure to register your site with Yahoo directory and Dmoz. 2. Get links from local social hubs: See what you can do to get links form your local library, chamber of commerce, local better business bureau, city portal, newspaper and whatnot. 3. Post your address on each page: Be sure to include your address on each page of your site. We tend to place it in a header or footer, but if you have side blocks, you can include it there instead. MSN has a search near me feature which may give you a boost in their results if you are deemed to be close to a searcher. 4. Targeting more than one town or area? If you are targeting multiple towns focus your homepage on either the most competitive town or the entire region. Use interior pages to target the other towns. It is possible to target many towns on a single page, but the problem is that when people find your content it may seem less relevant if you try to target 5 towns on one page than if you target 1 town per page. The smaller towns may also be easy to rank for by using good page title tags and internal linkage. The more relevant your page seems to a searcher the easier it is to convert them into a buyer. 5. Local Search Engine Advertising: Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and MSN AdCenter allow you to quickly and cheaply buy relevant traffic on a pay per click basis.
