Blogs are like the Cosa Nostra of Web sites. They are connected to one another, bribe their way up the search engine results and peddle their wares to readers...But just like the mafia, if you don’t give a real estate blog what it wants in return, you might just get wacked. Here’s the skinny. According to Technorati (AKA, the blogfather) there are 35.3 million blogs out there. This whole blogging thing is quite intricate, to get it done correctly and effectively. I think that your #3 is really the #1 thing that Realtors need to get over before they can really reap the benefits of blogging.
Your #2 is what I am still struggling with.

One of my blogs is on life support...I never could find a purpose for it, which probably is one of the more important factors on whether it'll float downstream.

The one I keep up with is a niche real estate blog so it doesn't fit quite nicely with your advice. Though, it's doing well from a reader viewership and lead perspective. It's a soft sell, providing info and building my expertise & credibility with the public. I would like to make it more interactive though.
