I did. It just takes more time and effort but it is entirely possible. They give an option on the submission page for it but they do not guarantee listing and say it will take longer. Each and every one of the directories listed above - I got this site into for free. As for some not accepting blogs- if our blog doesn't look like a blog- like this one or our clients- you can get accepted.
