I am biased in saying this but I like real estate directories. In my experience, they tend to have lower bounce rates if not farmed too heavily. So if you are looking for highly targeted demographics, make sure to get links in directories within your trade, service or skill.

I cringed when I read your tip number three but then justified it the next time through. My opinion is that if you are trying to get something noticed quickly, short term and need immediate response then farming is more justified. However, if you want high quality traffic, I wouldn't go as far as saying that farming is the most "effective" SEO.

It may be good for short term gain, however link farming is frowned upon by most search engines so if you intend to run your business in this fashion you may end up hurting yourself if discovered.
